We are delighted to be able to offer one of the first apartments to be released at this prestigious and stunningly beautiful resort. The fine apartments have been created from this landmark Grade A listed, former Fort Augustus Abbey and the austere monastic life has now been transformed in to an exceptionally stylish and warm leisure complex. As many of the original feature as possible have been retained and you cannot help but appreciate the atmosphere and history around you from the tiled and vaulted cloisters to the stained glass windows and great towers.

The Abbey is set in 20 acres of private grounds bordered by Loch Ness at the front and the views are truly breathtaking. The resort itself is still under development and future years will see the completion of a swimming pool and health club and members lounge created from the old monks’ refectory. The Boathouse restaurant on the shores of Loch Ness is complete and open and a perfect spot to take a break from cooking to enjoy a fine meal with views over Loch Ness. Perhaps with an extra glass of wine or two you might even see something mysterious in the Loch! The tennis court is ready for a set or two of tennis.

There is a wealth of activities for you to enjoy in the area with excellent, hill walking, cycling, fishing, field sports, boating and gold all available locally. There are many castles, gardens, woollen mills and distilleries within easy reach.

It should be noted that The Abbey re-development is not yet complete and that building work continues in other areas of the Abbey and the landscaping of the gardens. Whilst we hope this does not impact on your holiday in this glorious spot, there is inevitably a degree of movement and disturbance and prices for rental of the apartments in the development have been set to reflect this.

"The Highland Retreat"

One of the first phase of apartments to be completed - this lovely apartment is situated in the Moat House wing of The Old Abbey. Unusually this flat benefits from 2 entrances with its own ground floor door to the outside as well as the more usual security screened internal entrance. Equally unusual the apartment’s owner owns one of Scotland’s leading galleries for modern Scottish artists and his love of paintings is easy to see here with a selection of fine paintings and prints.

Accommodation:

The apartment is set over two floors with the lower (ground) floor being developed from the armoury of the original old Fort after which the town is named. From the external ground floor entrance, you enter the main sleeping area where you can enjoy sleeping in the spacious and elegantly furnished master bedroom with its vaulted ceiling, en suite bedroom with roll top bath and lovely slate floors. A further twin room and family bathroom are decorated in fresh neutral colours and extremely well furnished.

Stairs lead up to the living areas where you can enjoy the delightful Jack Vettriano prints in the open plan dining/sitting room. The separate kitchen is compact but excellently fitted and equipped. You can also enter the apartment through the Moat House entry at this 1st floor level.
